Another Vote for Sunday Hunting

Published: 2/25/2008

In response to “Sunday Hunting Needed,” I would like to add that we have the same problem in Pennsylvania. The idea has been brought up many times over the years but no action has been taken.

The Game Commission fears that more private land would be posted. However, they allow us to hunt crows, which are most commonly hunted on private land, on Sunday. Not to mention, most private land is already posted. As for the extra time afield, my job requires me to work every weekday, and sometimes long hours on occasional Saturdays. Being able to hunt on a Sunday would certainly
rekindle my enthusiasm of hunting.

Let’s catch up with the times and support Sunday hunting, not to mention the hunters. After all, they are the supporters of hunting, State Game Lands, the game commission itself and are a large boost to our state's economy.

My family owns land in PA. It's posted because most hunters have zero respect for hunting regulations (safty zones ect.)and the owners Rights. If you want more hunting opportunities try archery or muzzleloader. Gary Alt did not kill off the deer, doe hunters shooting a dozen doe and BUTTON bucks every year did.

I am a very avid hunter myself and think that the idea of hunting in PA on a Sunday is about the most absurd idea that I have ever heard. If anything we need to go back to a three-day doe season to let the population regenerate, in the aftermath of the Gary Alt genocide years. It used to be a good thing to go in the woods and see deer, now nothing but hunters. Private land owners that post their land should be forced to hunt it and not the public grounds like they do. The Amish are well known for this. No Sunday hunting--let the animals rest!

I have been self employed for 25 years and work a lot of Sat. When I do get the chance to hunt it is usually blowing a gale or downpour but I have to go anyway. It seems Sunday is always the perfect day to go (weatherwise) and I always have time then. It would also give more choices to control coyote and goose populations in the state of Ma.

So much for the separation of Church and State. It's used only when convenient.

I work thruout the week & every other saturday, I'd appreciate the opportunity to hunt on Sunday, and would love to introduce my younger cousins to the sport.

Being an avid hunter, I understand the problem of only being to hunt on the weekend. But I also look forward to Sunday to be able to safely take my family hiking in the woods.
