The Model 700 XCR (Xtreme Conditions Rifle) bolt-action rifle, introduced in 2005, soon became known for its superior performance and durability, even in the harshest weather and most extreme hunting conditions. Based on the legendary Model 700 action, the XCR platform incorporates weather-defying features and the latest in technologically-advanced manufacturing processes.
New for 2010, Remington has introduced the Model 700 XCR II—an all-weather rifle in 13 versatile, big-game calibers. The new XCR II is available in: .25-06 Rem., 270 Win, .280 Rem., .30-06 Sprg., 7 mm Rem. Mag., .300 WSM, .300 Win. Mag., .338 Win. Mag. with 24-inch clean barrels, 7 mm Rem. Ultra Mag., .300 Rem. Ultra Mag., .338 Rem. Ultra Mag. with 26-inch clean barrels, .375 H&H, and .375 Rem. Ultra Mag. with 24-inch, rifle-sighted barrels.
The Model 700 XCR II is truly built for extreme conditions with Remington’s patented TriNyte Corrosion Control System. This proprietary process starts with a durable, machined 416 stainless steel barreled action, which then undergoes a multi-step coating process, enhancing its corrosion and abrasion resistance to a diamond-like level. A base layer of electroless nickel plating is applied, followed by a satin-finished black PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) layer. Though micro-thin, this protective barrier provides virtual elimination of corrosion and superior abrasion resistance, comparable to the Rockwell Scale rating for diamonds. All exposed metalwork wears Remington’s non-reflective black TriNyte finish—barrel, action, bolt, bolt head and trigger.
Next, the virtually indestructible barreled action is fit into an element-defying, OD Green synthetic stock with complimenting black Hogue overmold panels on the fore-end and pistol-grip for a solid hold in the harshest conditions.
Other standard XCR II features include: clean 24-inch, hammer-forged barrel (26-inch barrel length on 7 mm, .300, and .338 Rem. Ultra Mags.); receiver drilled and tapped for scope mounts; hinged floorplate; sling swivel studs; and Remington’s patented, SuperCell Recoil Pad, which significantly lessens the felt recoil. This performance-driven bolt-action also bears unique markings with a “Stainless” designation on the left side of the receiver; barrel marked with “XCR II” model name; and the floorplate denotes both the model name and “TriNyte” logo.
Accuracy is second nature to this durable centerfire rifle as the XCR II rifle features the time-proven Model 700 bolt-action platform at its core. Accuracy is further enhanced with the addition of Remington’s ultra-crisp X-MARK PRO trigger, factory set at 3 ½ pounds. Featuring super-tight tolerances and mirror-like surface finishes, it breaks like glass and is externally adjustable for trigger pull weight.
